Hachiko, the movie

Two nights ago, I watched the movie Hachiko.  It is an adaptation of a Japanese film made 20 years ago. It is a true story of a loyal dog, named Hachi,  who would accompany his master  to the train station and returns each afternoon to greet him after work.

When his mater dies, Hachi faithfully returns to the station every single day, for nine years, hoping  that his mater will still return.  It touches  a lot of  people’s lives like Ken, the Japanese friend of Parker,   Jas, the local vendor and the people who read the article about  Hachi on the newspaper.

I have never been fond of dogs, or any animal for that matter.  But after watching this movie,  it proved to me that  dogs are indeed man’s best friend.

The movie may not have had the same box-office appeal as “Marley and Me” , also a dog movie, but I could say that it delivered its message – and right at the core of my being.  It is all about  faithfullness.   I got emotional  every time Hachi would get to the train station, the same spot where he greets his master,  waiting  and waiting and  waiting.

Oh my, I can’t help but get  emotional again as I write about it.  It is as if I  were in that movie.  The fact that this is a true story all the more makes it moving for me.  (sobbing)  Call me corny, but I do love this movie.

  1. I was crying while watching this movie. I invite every dog lover out there to watch it too and I tell you, you won’t get disappointed; in fact, a box of tissue is necessary.
